Pediatric Leadership AllianceThe ADHD Society & Support Group has invited the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to conduct a leadership training program for pediatricians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Register

Their proprietary physician leadership program – the Pediatric Leadership Alliance (PLA) – is conducted as a 2 1⁄2 day interactive workshop. The program is highly interactive and incorporates case studies, team-based exercises and tools to help participants in their leadership journey, and uses evidence-based leadership principles as its core curriculum.  Since the PLA’s inception in 1999, over 3000 pediatric professionals in the United States have been trained.

A unique and highly interactive leadership training program distinguished by its strong theoretical foundation and supported by highly relevant exercises, tools and clinical case studies.

This unique event, being held for the first time outside of the United States, will be organized jointly by the ADHD Support Group in Saudi Arabia, and the American Academy of Pediatrics in the United States of America

The program includes an individual leadership assessment and a learning agreement to participants to measure their development.

Target

Unlike the majority of leadership training programs, the PLA is tailored for young physicians at the beginning of their professional careers. By instilling the principles of leadership in this generation, we are ensuring a sound foundation for their career development and also giving these skills to the ones who are the most likely to make significant change in their communities and institutions.

Customization

The PLA – Saudi Arabia is not simply a carbon copy of the original PLA Program as held in the United States.  In collaboration with AFTA, the American Academy of Pediatrics has customized the core curriculum of the PLA to better reflect our culture and clinical practice. In addition, the curriculum has been customized to use ADHD management as the primary focus for case studies and training material.

Additions to the PLA in Saudi Arabia also  include a Train-the-Trainer format where Saudi faculty members have worked in partnership with the U.S. faculty in creating the customized program and will continue to work in partnership with them during the event, which will be held twice during the week of 4-9 February 2012.  Based on this experience, the Saudi faculty will form the core faculty for future PLA Saudi Arabia training events in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
